How to Use a VIPKid Referral Code

The sign-up process for VIPKid is pretty straightforward. You’ll first need to open up the VIPKid website in your browser. From there, click on the button that says “Become a Teacher.” The questions that follow will ask general information such as name, school history, and teaching experience. Once you’ve filled out this information, you’ll notice that it will ask for your VIPKid referral code at the bottom of the page. This is where you will put in your teacher’s referral code. If you’ve already signed up for the platform but don’t have a referral code, no worries! You can still add a referral code to your account as long as you have not already finished the Demo Lesson. If you need to add a referral code this way, follow the simple steps below:

Pull up the VIPKid platform in your browser and log into your existing account.
Click on the “My Account” button, listed on the top right-hand side of your profile.
From there, click on the “Add Referral Code” button.
A screen will pop-up asking for the code. Enter VIPKid referral code: LINDS1129 and once you’ve typed it in, hit the OK button.
You’ve now successfully added a referral code to your profile.

If you’ve already finished your demo lesson, you’re no longer eligible to add a referral code to your account. The only way you can add a referral code would be to create a new account.

How much does VIPKid pay per referral?

VIPKid has specific guidelines on what a referral entails and how much you can make from each referral. Right now, VIPkid will pay the referee $100 for the referral. However, before they are awarded the $100, new teachers must apply using their referral code, pass the interview process, and teach their first student. Once they’ve finished all tasks, the referee will receive the $100.

How to Refer New Teachers to VIPKid

If you’re already a teacher on the VIPKid platform, you may be wondering how you can start referring your friends or family. Simply click on the referral tab at the top of your account page, and copy the link provided. Send your code to anyone you know who may be a good candidate for teaching ESL. When trying to find ways to share your link, consider writing posts, making YouTube videos, posting on Instagram, or speaking in person to people you know about the opportunity.

Is it Worth it to teach on VIPKid?

Yes! VIPKid is a great resource to use. The platform allows you to teach as long as you are a United States or Canadian citizen, have one year working with children, and have obtained a bachelor’s degree. Can I Change Referring Teachers/Coaches?

Unfortunately, if you’ve already applied with another coach, you’re unable to change the referring teacher or add another teacher to your account. The benefit is that you’ll have extra practice and experience.

VIPKid vs. QKids: Which one is better?

If you’re between VIPKid and Qkid platforms, it’s essential to understand each online teaching company’s differences to make the best decision of where to spend your time. Here are some of the main similarities and differences between each company.

Application Process: Both platforms have their own hiring platform. They both require you to fill out the information about yourself, including that you have worked with children in the past and have finished your bachelor’s degree. The actual interview process is challenging at each company. Both companies make it a difficult process so that they only select the best teachers for their platform.

Demo & Interviews: For VIPKid, the platform asks for teachers to provide a short recorded demo where they learn about teaching methods, take a quiz and then record themselves teaching. After that, they’ll need to learn a lesson and teach it to an employee of VIPKid. For Qkids, they will do an actual interview, asking questions about their platform and student interaction. During the second interview, you’ll have a one on one interview with an employee at Qkids. Once finished, you’ll need to teach a few slides of a lesson.

TESOL or TEFL Certification: It is now required to hold some type of TESOL certification to start teaching due to a new law passed in China. VIPKid offers its own TESOL certification that won’t cost any extra money. While using Qkids requires you to obtain that certificate from an alternative source.

Pay Difference: Qkids payment system allows you to earn extra income with all of its extras such as bonuses for each class finished, positive feedback, and standby lessons. VIPKid, on the other hand, has a base salary rate and fewer bonuses available.
